The state of Texas, which prides itself with what is believed to have excellent conservation practices, should not be so proud. From what I have been told about hunting, hunters help other animals from starvation by culling off some of their herd. This is not the case with squirrels, in fact it is the opposite. There is no closed season on squirrel hunting in the state of Texas, and that means baby squirrels are starving to death, a death far worse than a bullet.
